BOCA 2012 announced

December 8, 2011

We are thrilled to announce the track list for BOCA: Best Of College A Cappella 2012!

(Please note that BOHSA: Best Of High School A Cappella is now a biannual compilation. Submissions made this year will be held for consideration for next year's release.)

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who submitted their tracks. We know how much of each of you goes into producing these albums, and we really enjoyed listening to each and every track we received.

Hundreds upon hundreds of tracks were submitted. With so many groups pushing the envelope -- in everything from vocalists and arrangement, to recording and production quality, to song selection and genre -- selecting our lineup this year was incredibly difficult.

We want to thank you for your interest in our annual compilation, and we encourage you to participate in years to come.

Congratulations to the groups who were selected!

We are quite excited about these albums and are working quickly to produce them. We will be in touch soon with further instructions.

Thank you again to everyone who contributed to this process!

ICHSA Wild Card Round

We are excited to announce the 2011 ICHSA Wild Card Round! For groups who cannot participate in a live semifinal event or who don't take first place at their semifinal, we have four remaining wild card spaces for ICHSA Finals on April 15 in New York City.

Groups can videotape their competition set, just as though they were performing at an ICHSA semifinal event--no stops, edits, or cuts. Three Varsity Vocals adjudicators will evaluate the performances.

The deadline to submit videos is March 1. Contact ICHSA Director Andrea Poole at andrea@varsityvocals.com for official information on how to upload your video to our YouTube site.

On March 7, the four top-scoring groups will be declared winners of the Wild Card Round and will be invited to appear at ICHSA Finals.

Groups that are scheduled to compete in an ICHSA semifinal held after March 1 may still participate in the Wild Card Round. Those that win a wild card spot can still compete in your semifinal and enjoy the experience without concern for the outcome of the show. If the winner of a semifinal has already won a wild card spot, we will invite the second place group at semifinals to advance to ICHSA Finals.

ICCA National Wild Card Round Results Are In!

April 10, 2010

The results of our first-ever ICCA National Wild Card Round are in! Visit our results page to see who was named the first Wild Card Round Champion and will be the first group to make it to ICCA Finals through this process. We now have a full ICCA Finals lineup! Hurry up and get your tickets to the biggest night in college a cappella -- they are going fast!

Introducing: The ICCA National Wild Card Round

April 5, 2010

We are excited to announce an exciting new opportunity for college a cappella groups to earn a spot at ICCA Finals: The ICCA National Wild Card Round.

The ICCA National Wild Card Round is open only to groups that placed second or third at each collegiate semifinal. Participation is optional and voluntary. The contest is based on videotaped entries, which are evaluated by some of our best judges nationwide using our judge forms, just as though it was any of our other live events.

The top-scoring group is named ICCA National Wild Card Champion and advances to ICCA Finals. It's that simple!

WHY A WILD CARD SPOT?

- It creates a level playing field between the regions, once and for all.
- It gives the nation's best groups another chance at competing on college a cappella's biggest stage.
- ICHSA Finals are now held on a separate night from ICCA Finals, so our schedule finally has room for more college groups to compete at college finals.
- We spend a lot of time, effort, and money to give the best collegiate a cappella groups the chance to perform at Lincoln Center, and we want to give as many groups as possible as many chances as possible to earn that opportunity.

WILL THIS HAPPEN EVERY YEAR?
- Absolutely. This is the launch of a pilot program. If we get enough interest in participation, we will be holding the wild card round for second- and third-place semifinalists every year!

HOW DO GROUPS PARTICIPATE?
Second-place and third-place groups have already received instructions about how to submit their video entries, which are due on Friday, April 9. A lineup of competitors will appear on our events page on Wednesday, April 7. We will announce the winner on our results page on Saturday, April 10 by 11:59 pm EST.

Thank you for sharing our enthusiasm about this exciting new opportunity for the nation's best college a cappella groups. Stay tuned this week for results of the ICCA National Wild Card Round to see who will be named champion and will earn a coveted spot on the ICCA Finals stage!
